Past shows and events
By far, the biggest and best performance featuring Acadêmicos da Ópera has been Carnaval Brasileiro in Austin, Texas. Billed as possibly the largest Brazilian Carnaval party in the United States, nearly 6,000 partygoers in costume dance the night away at the Palmer Events Center in Austin every February.
Acadêmicos recently performed at the Brownsville Latin Jazz Fest, featuring such regional, national and international acts as The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ritmo 3, Grupo Aché and many others. See what the Brownsville Herald had to say about our show!
The Samba School is also a regular at the Ruta Maya World Carnaval in Austin and the Fiesta Flambeau and Día de los Muertos parades in San Antonio, Texas. To ring in the New Year, Académicos joined the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra on December 31st, 2008 for a lively show featuring a variety of South American classical and contemporary hits. Acadêmicos da Ópera was also honored to perform at the 2006 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC).
